David Adedeji Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, is an American-born Nigerian singer-songwriter, rapper, performer, and record producer. He was born in Atlanta but moved to Lagos when he was a child. He released his debut studio album, Omo Baba Olowo, in 2012, and has an upcoming one, The Baddest

Early Years & “Omo Baba Olowo”

Davido was born in 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia. He followed after his father and studied business administration, before quitting it to pursue a musical career, for which he moved to London. In 2015, with the help of his father, Davido received a music degree from Babcock University, Nigeria. The artist released Omo Baba Olowo, his first album, in 2012. It spawned 7 singles, most noteworthy Dami Duro.  The song received numerous awards and nominations, as well as many remixes.

“The Baddest”

Davido began working on his next album, “The Baddest”, in 2003. The release got extremely delayed but several singles made it out into the market. The Nigerian singer released “Gobe”, in February, of the same year, to a very position reaction. “One of a Kind”, an ode to African culture, came out in May, followed closely by “Skelewu” in August. In 2014, Davido released “Aye”, in which, according to its video, Davido interpreted “a poor farmer who fell in love with the prince’s love interest.” A couple of months later, he came out with “Tchelete (Goodlife)”, which translates to “Money” and featured Mafikizolo. Finally, in 2017, the artist gained major popularity for his single “If”, which gained over 11 million Youtube views overnights.
