Cristian Cabrerizo, known professionally as Cris Cab, is an American singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known for the 2013 worldwide hit Liar Liar. His music combines pop, reggae and soul elements.
Early Career
Cris Cab began singing at a very young age. He used to spend his summers in the Bahamas developing his musical style. At the age of 14, he started recording and, shortly, Pharell Williams discovered and mentored him. Cris gained popularity online, appearing on blogs such as Perez Hilton and even Billboard. Furthermore, he began performing as opening act for consecrated artists. Among them are T-Pain, Matisyahu and Gym Class Heroes. In 2011 he released his debut EP, Foreword. Additionally, he collaborated with Wyclef Jean.
Success
In 2012, the young artist released his first mixtape, Echo Boom, which featured major names like Pharrell Williams Wyclef Jean, Melanie Fiona, and Shaggy. Moreover, the song Paradise (On Earth) was included on the soundtrack of NBA 2K14. Cris’ debut single Good Girls (Don’t Grow on Trees) did not, however, received much recognition. Thing changes one year later, with the released of Liar, Liar, one of the most iconic hits of 2013. The song reached several European charts. It also got involved in a controversy, due to its similarity to The Lightning Seed’s You Showed Me. In 2014, Cris released his debut album Where I Belong.
