Chris Janson is an American country singer and songwriter who found success with the Buy Me a Boat single and album.

Early Life

Chris Janson was born on April 2, 1986, in Perryville, Missouri. After finishing school he moved to Nashville.

Career

In 2009, after a duet with Holly Williams, he was signed to BNA Records. Chris released his first single Til a Woman Comes Along the following year. Critics praised his vocal range and arrangement and the single debuted at spot 56 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. He left his record label in 2010 and started writing for Tim McGraw and Justin Moore. In addition, Janson offered songs for numerous other artists for the remaining of 2012. After being signed to Bigger Picture Music Group he released the single Better I Don’t in 2013. The song peaked at number 33 and the next single Cut Me Some Slack peaked at number 60. Unfortunately, his label closed its doors in 2014.

Success

After this setback, Chris decided to release on his own the single Buy Me a Boat in 2015. Debuting at number 33, it was officially released by Warner Bros. Records becoming Jason’s biggest hit. He released his debut album with the same title, reaching number 4 the Top Country Albums chart. His second single was revealed as Power of Positive Drinkin’. In 2016, he co-wrote for several artists again.
