Carrie Underwood Biography

Carrie Marie Underwood is an American country singer, songwriter and actress. She encountered fame for the first time after winning American Idol in 2005. Furthermore, her debut album, Some Hearts spawned the legendary singles Jesus, Take the Wheel and Before He Cheats. The album turned out to be the highest-selling country album in over a decade. Additionally, Carrie won 7 Grammy Awards over the course of her fulfilling career. In 2014, she reached Time’s list of 100 most influential people in the world.

Early Years & Some Hearts 

Carrie Underwood grew up in Oklahoma and expressed in interest an music from an early age. When she was only three she began singing in the church choir. Furthermore, she performed at various festivals and gigs. Carrie learned to play the guitar and piano, however, she never took singing lessons. Before having her breakthrough in 2005, the artist wanted to become a journalist. Still, she entered the fourth season of American Idol and won. In the summer of the same year, she released her debut single Inside Your Heaven.

In late 2005 Carrie’s album came out to critical success. The platinum-certified album’s lead single, Jesus, Take the Wheel, topped the Billboard Country Songs chart. Consequently, the country singer won 5 Billboard Music Awards. She also received two Grammy Awards for the single Before He Cheats.

Continuous Success

Following up on that success, Carrie released her second album, Carnival Ride. It brought her two more Grammy Awards and topped several country charts. In 2009, her third album, Play On, generated the popular single Cowboy Casanova. In 2012, the country-pop star’s fourth album also received recognition, due to the lead single Good Girl. Another noteworthy single was released in 2014, the religious-themed Something in the Water, which topped the country charts. Carrie’s latest album, titled Storyteller, came out in 2015.
