Sarah Grace McLaughlin, known professionally as Bishop Briggs, is a British singer and songwriter. Additionally, she plays the piano and keyboard. She gained instant popularity with her eponymous EP, which included the popular singles Wild Horses and River. Additionally, she performed at 2017’s Coachella.
Life
Briggs was born in 1992, in London. Shortly after, her family moved to Tokyo, where she discovered her love for music, at a karaoke bar. She began writing songs at the age of seven. Furthermore, after graduation high school in Hong Kong, she moved to L.A., California to attend the Musician’s Institute,
Musical Debut
After a period of small gigs, Bishop caught the eye of George Robertson (A&R). In 2015, she recorded her first single, Wild Horses, which featured in a commercial and gained popularity on Shazam. Eventually, the song peaked at number 30 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. It also made top 20 on Twitter and iTunes charts. Moreover, in 2016, Bishop’s second single, River, topped Hype Machine’s Popular chart and Spotify’ US Viral 50. Eventually, it peaked at number 3 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and became a huge commercial success.
During that period, she performed opening acts for Coldplay and Kaleo. Furthermore, she released a third single, The Way I do and made her TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In August of the same year, she came out with a fourth single, Pray, which was included in the season 2 finale of MTV’s Scream. Finally, in 2017 she collaborated with Cold War Kids, on their song So Tied Up, and released her debut, self-titled EP. The EP was preceded by a music video for Wild Horses and a vinyl limited edition.
