Ayo and Teo Biography

Ayo & Teo is a Michigan-based dance and rap duo that rose to prominence with the single Rolex.

Early Formation

The group was formed by the two brothers Ayleo and Mateo Bowles. The two began competing in dance contests in elementary school. They began to use YouTube to post videos of their unique brand, inspired by artists like Michael Jackson, Usher, Missy Elliot and Chris Brown.

Rising Success

These dance challenges established their presence on social media and they went viral. One example of their dance sets included THE REVERSE which was a reversal of the popular Nae Nae with more than 150 million views.The video Rolex became a hit on YouTube as well, garnering more than 50 million views and entering the Billboard Hot 100. Ayo & Teo’s first single was In Reverse, issued in 2016. As a unique trademark, the brothers wore bear facemasks. During the 2016 BET Awards, the duo was invited by Usher to dance with him during his performance. They were also featured in Usher’s music video, No Limit. The same year, Ayo & Teo were signed to Columbia Records. In 2017 they revealed the single Lit Right Now and their biggest hit Rolex as a single. The latter song was compared to similar hot tracks like Bad and Boujee by Migos, Black Beatles by Rae Sremmurd, and Broccoli by D.R.A.M.
