Avril Ramona Lavigne is a Canadian singer-songwriter and actress. Most known for her rebellious style, she issued singles like “Girlfriend” and “Sk8er Boi”.
Early Life
Avril Lavigne was born in Belleville, Ontario, Canada on 27 September 1984. Her parents were very supportive of her singing and transformed the house basement in a studio for their daughter. After winning a radio contest, she got to sing with Shania Twain.
Rock-solid Career
In 2000 Lavigne signed to Arista Records and they released her debut album, Let Go in 2002. The album made her the bestselling female artist of 2002. Let Go was number one in Australia, Canada and the Uk and number two on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Her next album Under My Skin (2004) met with modest acclaim. Avril got back in shape with The Best Damn Thing in 2007. It contained the single “Girlfriend” that is one of the most iconic songs in the pop-punk scene.
After recording the song “Alice” for Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”, she started working on her fourth studio album. Goodbye Lullaby was issued in March 2011 and it sold 368,000 copies in the US.
“I’m doing things at my speed and never being too overwhelmed, like the way I have in the past. I really want to enjoy everything, because life is good. And even though this circumstance is unfortunate, I think there are a lot of positive with it. I’m definitely choosing to view it that way.”, Avril said in an interview for Billboard.
Achievements
Avril Lavigne has won the tremendous number of 224 awards out of her 321 nominations. She has her own clothing line, Abbey Dawn and her own fragrance. In 2010 she established the Avril Lavigne Foundation, that focuses on helping unfortunate youngsters. Avril is also known for her voice-over in the film Over The Hedge.
