Auli’i Cravalho is an American actress and singer best known for the animated film Moana.

Early Life

Auli’i Carvalho was born in Kohala, Hawaii on November 22, 2000. The 16-year-old has ancestors from Chinese, Irish, Native Hawaiian, Portuguese, and Puerto Rican descent.

Career Beginning

She was living with her mother in Mililani, Hawaii as a high school freshman when she became famous. Auli’i was reluctant to take on the role of the film Moana as there were many submissions. Nonetheless, she was encouraged by an agent to audition for the role. She was the last person to audition after hundreds of other actresses. The movie was released in 2016 and received 2 Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

Upcoming Projects

Cravalho is set to be part of the cast of the new drama, Drama High on NBC.
