ASAP Ferg is an American rapper and previous fashion designer. He emerged from the successful hip-hop collective A$AP Mob.

Darold D. Brown Ferguson, Jr., known by his stage name ASAP Ferg or A$AP Ferg, is an American rapper from Harlem. His name derives from the hip-hop group A$AP Mob, of which he is a member. In 2013 he released his debut solo album. Furthermore, in 2016, his second album, Always Strive and Prosper, came out. Both records peaked at top 10 on the Billboard 200 and top 5 on the Hip-Hop and Rap charts.
Early Life & Career
Ferg was born in 1988, in Harlem, New York. His father owned a boutique that printed merchandise items for record labels. Initially, Ferg took up after his father and pursued fashion. In 2005 he launched his deluxe belt collection, Devoni Clothin. Eventually, he started rapping. “Trapping means hustling,” he explained, “They call me ‘Trap Lord’ because my hustle game is impeccable.” His friend and future fellow group member ASAP Rocky encouraged him in his rapping endeavours. Consequently, Ferg collaborated on ASAP Mob’s acclaimed debut album Long. Live. A$AP.
Trap Lord & Always Strive and Prosper
Ferg released his debut single, Work, in 2012, as part of ASAP Mob’s mixtape Lords Never Worry. One year later, he came out with his own album, Trap Lord. The record peaked at number 9 in the US and brought Ferb a BET Hip Hop Award. Moreover, in 2014 he collaborated with Ariana Grande on her song Hands on Me. In 2015, he released an acclaimed music video for his single Dope Walk. The video contains footage from NY Fashion Week, focussing on model Cara Delevigne and including shots of numerous celebrities like Kanye West, Diddy, Rihanna and Alexander Wang. In 2015, ASAP Ferg released his next album, Always Strive and Prosper. It featured appearances from Skrillex, Missy Elliot, Schoolboy Q, Rick Ross and other giants. It also conquered the charts and, additionally, it spawned the gold-certified single New Level, featuring Future.
