Amy Winehouse was an English singer and songwriter, known for her intriguing vocals, highlighted on songs like You Know I’m No Good and Back to Black. Early Life & “Frank”

Amy Winehouse grew up in London, surrounded by jazz. At the age of 10, she also became interested in hip-hop music. At the age of 16, she got expelled from school for not being obedient enough. It turned out to be for the best since she was immediately signed to Island/Universal.

In 2013, Amy Winehouse released her debut album, Frank. The interesting mixture of jazz, pop, soul and hip-hop gained 2x platinum and several nominations. However, Amy began to lead a chaotic lifestyle, full of drugs and abusive relationships.

“Back To Black”

Amy’s management company tried to help her, suggesting she should go to rehab. This episode spawned the major hit Rehab, the first single from Amy Winehouse’s second album, Back To Black. The record brought Amy a BRIT Award in 2007. Furthermore, the album generated several heartwarming singles, such as Back to Black and Love is a Losing Game. Rolling Stones gave Amy very positive reviews; “When this lady sings about love, she means every word”.

After Amy’s tragic demise Back to Black became the UK’s highest-selling album of the 21st century.
