American Authors is an American New York-based rock band, best known for singles like Believer and Best Day of My Life.
Early Formation
The members met each other while in college in 2006. Named at the time Blue Pages, they performed and recorded several projects. The quartet was made out of the following members: Zac Barnett (vocals), James Adam Shelley (guitar/banjo), Dave Rublin (bass), and Matt Sanchez (drums).
Career Beginnings and Success
In 2012 they landed a record deal with Island Records. They released the single Believer, soon followed by their breakthrough song Best Day of My Life. After being used on several TV spots, the song was at the top spot on Billboard’s Adult Pop Songs. In mid-2013, the group released the first self-titled EP. The same year, American Authors won the Overall Grand Prize at the 18th Annual USA Songwriting Competition. In 2014 they were number 9 on Billboard’s Top New Artists chart. What We Live For was released, as the second LP spawning several singles in 2016.
