Alison Krauss is an American bluegrass-country singer and musician.
Alison Krauss Biography
Born Alison Maria Krauss on 23 July 1971, she was keen on music since her early years. The artist signed with Rounder Records in 1985.
Early Career
Alison released the independent album Different Strokes in 1985. She played since then with the band Union Station. The debut solo album she issued at 16 with the label was called Too Late To Cry (1987). Due to her contract, Krauss had to release solo albums and group albums concomitantly.
I’ve Got That Old Feeling, a 1990 solo album, won Krauss her first Grammy Award.Two years later she won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album with Every Time You Say Goodbye (1992). She won the same award again in 1997 for So Long So Wrong.
Staying at the Top
After a handful of other successful albums, she got around to a collaboration with Robert Plant. Together they released the album Raising Sand in 2007. The album won five Grammy Awards.
After the Raising Sand success, Alison returned to recording and touring with Union Station. In 2017 she released the solo album Windy City. With tracks like “Losing You” and “I Never Cared for You”, the album peaked at number one on the Billboard US Folk Albums chart.
