Alan Walker is a DJ and producer from Norway with an impressive social media EDM presence. He received platinum certification for his single “Faded” in more than 10 countries.
Early Life
Alan Olav Walker was born on 24 August 1997, England with dual citizenship as his father was English and his mother was Norwegian. Growing up in Norway, he found an avid interest in computer programming and graphic design. Walker taught himself how to make music by using YouTube although he had no prior musical background.
Social Media Success
He was inspired by classical music and EDM and looked for support from other DJs. He slowly started creating a fanbase and releasing music on social media. Alan first gained attention with the drum step single “Fade” released in 2014, which currently has 220 million views on YouTube. Following the success, he was signed by MER Musikk and released a remastered version of “Fade” as “Faded”. The song topped charts in most of Europe and on iTunes in 31 Countries. The music video has over 970 million views on YouTube and is part of the top 20 most liked YouTube videos. “Sing Me to Sleep” was released in 2016 reached the top on iTunes in 7 countries with over 210 million views. “Alone” generated 190 million views. As of 2017, he is the Norwegian person with the most subscribers and the most views (1,3 billion).
