Aimee Mann Biography
Born Aimee Mann on 8 September 1960, she grew up in Virginia. She dropped out of college and joined the punk band the Young Snakes.
Early Years
Aimee meddled with the band ‘Til Tuesday, that she co-founded with her friend lover Michael Hausman in 1983. The band issued three albums in total. After ‘Til Tuesday disbanded, Mann pursued a solo career. Her first two albums, Whatever (1993) and I’m with Stupid (1995) showcased her evolution as an artist.
Further Career
Aimee issued Bachelor No. 2 in 2000 and two years later, Lost in Space. She would hit the jackpot with the album The Forgotten Arm (2005). It was a concept album that told the story of a two lovers’ runaway. Elements of boxing also found their place in this album, Aimee being keen on the sport. The album won a Grammy Award for Best Recording Package, shared between Mann and Gail Marowitz.
Mann released the singles “Charmer” and “Labrador” in 2012. They both were included in the album Charmer, that received a 73/100 rating on Metacritic. Next for her was a collaboration with Ted Leo in the band called Both. Aimee issued the album Mental Illness on 31 March 2017. It peaked at number 54 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
