Abra Biography

Abra or the darkwave duchess is an Atlanta-based R&B singer-songwriter and producer.

Early Life

Abra was born in Queens, New York as the daughter of missionaries. She was raised in London and was introduced to singing in her church choir. Abra moved back to Atlanta at 8 years old.

Career

Abra learned how to play guitar and started a YouTube channel to upload videos of her rap songs covers. She joined the label Awful Records in 2014. Her debut EP was BLQ Velvet (2015), followed by PRINCESS released under True Panther Sounds (2016).  The Guardian selected her song Fruit as one of the best  R&B songs of 2016. She revealed a debut album Rose in 2015.

Style 

Her R&B style stems from slick slow, and dark sounds, that borrows from the mainstream beat.
