2 Chainz is a Grammy award-winning American rapper from College Park, Georgia.
2 Chainz Biography
Born Tauheed Epps on 12 September 1977, 2 Chainz dealt marijuana in his high school years and graduated from Virginia State University.
Early Career
He got into music with the hip-hop duo Playaz Circle. Together with his friend Earl Conyers, he released the independent album United We Stand, United We Fall (2002).
After recording some songs with Ludacris, Playaz Circle signed with his label Disturbing Tha Peace. They achieved notoriety with their two albums Supply & Demand (2007) and Flight 360: The Takeoff (2009).
Solo Career
After leaving Ludacris’ label, Epps changed his name from “Tity Boi” to 2 Chainz. He issued his mixtape T.R.U. REALigion and peaked at number 58 on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. His debut studio album Based on a T.R.U. Story (2012) went straight to number one on the US Billboard 200. The mixed critic reviews he got didn’t interfere with the three nominations for a Grammy Award.
2 Chainz’ issued his second album B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time in 2013. It encloses the singles “Feds Watching” and “Used 2”. The first promotion video was titled “24 Hours to Live” and it was shot in South Africa. The album debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200. The EP Felt Like Cappin saw the light of day in 2016. It was released via online streaming sites and iTunes.
