Jason Derulo Biography

Jason Derulo is an American singer-songwriter and dancer. He is known for platinum singles like Wiggle and Talk Dirty.

Early Life

The son of Haitian parents, Jason Joel Desrouleaux was born in  Miramar, Florida on September 21, 1989. He wrote his first song at age 8 and attended performing arts schools. His songwriting skills were soon noticed.

Career Beginnings

He began to transition from a behind the scenes songwriter to a solo performer and vocalist. Derulo’s first pop hit was Whatcha Say which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and entered the top 10 of 5 other countries. Jason Derulo, the debut album arrived in 2010, followed by Future History LP and the hit song Don’t Wanna Go Home. He was planned to support the album with a tour but the show was canceled after a neck injury.

Breakthrough 

The next album Tattoos spawned single hits like Talk Dirty with 2 Chainz and Wiggle with Snoop Dogg in 2014. In 2015 Derulo revealed Everything Is 4, a highly collaborative project featuring guests like Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban amongst others. The top 10 single Want to Want Me was produced. He served as a judge on the 12th season of So You Think You Can Dance TV dancing competition. In 2017 he revealed the single Swalla featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign from his upcoming 5th album.
