Early Life
Born as Harley Edward Streten in Sydney, Australia on 5 November 1991 he began making music at age 13.
Career Beginnings and Success
Originally called HED, he took the name Flume after Bon Iver’s song. He released his first EP Sleepless with tracks like Over You and Paper Thin. Flume’s self-titled debut album was a national success as it reached the number 1 spot on the Australian iTunes chart. The album was later released in the US to great criticism from American reviewers. The project eventually reached number 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. In 2013 he began touring his country with Infinity Prism Tour. 2014 was also a year of performing at major festivals like Lollapalooza and Coachella. Flume’s highly anticipated album Skin was released to great critical acclaim. In 2016 he received 8 ARIA Music awards and 1 Grammy award for Best Dance/Electronic album. The album’s lead single Never Be like You was nominated for Best Dance Recording as well. Following the album’s huge success, Flume released 2 more EPs, Skin Companion EP 1 released 2016 and Skin Companion EP 2 released in 2017.
