Every Girl’s Dream
Alessia Caracciolo was born on the 11th of July, 1996, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. An Italian-Canadian, along with her three siblings, her father was also an Italian-Canadian while her mother was an Italian immigrant. As a child, she wrote poetry and did theater. She began teaching herself and playing guitar at the age of 10, after being inspired by Amy Winehouse for the first time. At the age of 13, she began her own YouTube channel where she posted covers of songs that she performed. After graduating high school, she took a year off to focus on her music. She eventually landed a major-label recording contract with Def Jam Recordings in 2015.
“Here”
In 2015, Cara released her official debut single “Here”, through Def Jam. It gained her notoriety, reaching no. 5 in the US charts. The single was about her experience with parties and the realization that she felt uncomfortable at some of them. She went on and promoted herself and her song, making multiple television appearances. Cara released the EP “Four Pink Walls” (2015) and not long after her debut album “Know-It-All” (2015). The album included singles “Here”, “Wild Things” and “Scars to Your Beautiful” performing pretty well on the charts and reaching top 10 on the Billboard 200. In April 2016, Cara was announced to be one of the supporting acts of band Coldplay in their “A Head Full of Dreams Tour”.

Cara’s singing and writing style have been compared to singers such as Lorde, Amy Winehouse, Rihanna, and Norah Jones. She cites as her influences artists such as Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse, Pink, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, Drake, Ed Sheeran and Amy Winehouse, the last being the artist that she looks up to the most.
