Silver Biography
Silver was an American rock band, popular in the 70s, mostly known for its only hit single, Wham Bam.
Early Formation
The band consisted of John Batdorf, the lead vocalist and guitarist, Brent Mydland, the keyboardist and vocalist, Tom Leadon, the bassist and vocalist, Greg Collier, the guitarist and vocalist and Harry Stinson, the drummer and percussionist. Silver was formed in 1975 by John Batdorf after his duo Batdorf & Rodney, disbanded.
Career
The band was signed to Artista Records and released a self-titled album in 1976. Nonetheless, the only charting single Wham Bam enjoyed enormous success as it reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was one of the most successful songs of 1976. Mastermind record producer and executive Clive Davis, co-produced the album. Before Silver was revealed the label executives predicted that no other song had commercial potential, so they offered them Wham Bam. The only other three singles released were Musician (It’s Not an Easy Life), Memory and Climbing. Silver split in 1978.
