Halestorm Biography

Halestorm is an American hard rock band formed in 1997. It currently consists of Lzzy Hale (lead vocalist, guitarist), Arejay Hale (drummer, percussionist), Joe Hottinger (guitarist), and Josh Smith (bassist).

Early Years

The band formed in 1997 when Lzzy and Arejay were still children. Lzzy learned to play the piano, then the keytar and guitar. They released an EP, in 1999, titled Don’t Mess With the Time Man. In 2015, the band signed with Atlantic Records. Four years later, their eponymous debut album came out, spawning 2 top 10 hits on the Mainstream Rock chart, I Get Off and It’s Not You. 

Breakthrough & Success

In 2012, Halestorm released their second album, which turned out to be a major commercial success. It spawned the band’s most iconic single, the Grammy-nominated Love Bites…(So Do I). It peaked at number 2, along with the next single, I Miss the Misery. Moreover, the third single, Freak Like Me, topped the Mainstream Rock chart. Additionally, the group toured with Bullet For My Valentine. In 2015, Halestorm reached number 5 on the Billboard 200 with their third album, Into the Wild Life, which also topped the Rock chart. Most recently, they released a covers album, titled Reanimate 3.0.
