Earl St. Clair Biography

Earl St. Clair is an American record producer, vocalist and songwriter signed to Def Jam Records. He made his television debut on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, performing “Perfect” and released his debut single “Man on Fire” featured on the EP “My Name is Earl”.

Life, Name & Style

Earl was born and bred in Cleveland, Ohio, but he also lived in Alabama during his childhood. He developed an interest in music during college and dropped out to produce hip-hop music. His stage name “St. Clair” came from the fact that, in his early years of producing in Cleveland, he did so on St. Clair street. When he moved to California, he worked at a studio also located on a street called St. Clair. With his deep voice, Earl reminds of the style of classic Southern soul and gospel, with influences such as  Al Green and Ray Charles, but mixed with the modern elements of rap, pop and dance.

Music Career

As a producer and songwriter, Earl is best known for major-label albums by Machine Gun Kelly and Rick Ross. He was known as JP Did This 1, during that time. Moreover, he collaborated with EDM legends David Guetta and Avicii, providing vocals on their songs. In 2016, he signed with Def Jam Records, which determined him to pursue a solo career, as a singer, as well. Therefore, he released his debut single “Man on Fire”, followed by “Good Time” and “Feeling Alive”. In 2017, he came out with his debut album, “Songs About A Girl I Used To Know”.
