Pretend You’re Missing Me - Betty Who

Album: The Valley

genre: Pop Synthpop

Wakin’ up in a twin XL
I got drunk in a cheap hotel
Now I’m trying not to hate myself ’cause I’m missing your face
I’m a mess, baby, can’t you tell?

I know you’re happy, white fence in Pasadena
I thought we’d get there first
I see you smile, and it cuts a little deeper
Is it just me that’s hurt?

I’m in the bed, and I’m still sleeping in your t-shirt
I pretend you’re missing me, me
I’m not on your mind, but when you hear our song
At least pretend you’re missing me, me
At least pretend you’re missing me

Me, me
At least pretend you’re missing me, me

Don’t you worry, I’m doing fine
I found a boy, and I’m getting by
But I think of you all the time and I picture your face
Anytime that he kisses mine

I know you’re happy, I hope that she’s a keeper
Just know I loved you first
I see you smile, and it keeps on cuttin’ deeper
But it’s just me that hurts

I’m in the bed, and I’m still sleeping in your t-shirt
I pretend you’re missing me, me
I’m not on your mind, but when you hear our song
At least pretend you’re missing me, me
At least pretend you’re missing me, woah

Me, me
At least pretend you’re missing me, me

And now you’re happy, white fence in Pasadena
I see you smile, and it keeps on cuttin’ deeper
And it’s just me that’s hurt

I’m in the bed, and I’m still sleeping in your t-shirt
I pretend you’re missing me, me
I’m not on your mind, but when you hear our song
At least pretend you’re missing me, me
At least pretend you’re missing me, me
(Pretend you’re missing me, oh)

Me
At least pretend you’re missing me, me

At least pretend you’re missing me

The Valley Danzig album lyrics
Betty Who told the British newspaper The Independent: "This song was one of the last songs I wrote for the record. I was feeling really tapped out emotionally and sort of ‘over it’ in a very intense way (which, after over a year of writing, I think is an understandable place to be), but I had been dying to work with the Monsters so I put my big girl pants on and got to the session and realised it was going to be the easiest day of my life."
Song details
  • Publishing: RCA Records
  • Co-Production: The Monsters x the Strangers
  • Composition: Zak Waters, Betty Who, MarcLo, Stefan Johnson, Jordan K. Johnson, The Monsters x the Strangers
  • Vocals: Betty Who
  • Release Date: March 24, 2017
Betty Who also stated to The Independent: "Those guys are the most chill and we had so much fun hanging out and making this song, and the emotion that this song embodies was so present in the room that day. Nothing is worse than when you walk away from a relationship and realize that the person you love and still think about every single day doesn’t even miss you anymore."
