All That Remains Biography
All That Remains is an American heavy metal band, formed in 1998, currently enclosing members Philip Labonte, Oli Herbert, Mike Martin, Jason Costa and Aaron Patrick. They have released 8 studio albums, and several acclaimed singles, notably “Two Weeks” and “What If I Was Nothing”. Since 2006, they established their sound as melodic metalcore.
Formation – “The Fall of Ideals”
All That Remains’ vocalist, Phil Labonte, initially played in the band Shadows Fall. Eventually, he left the band and focussed on his former side project, All That Remains. In 2002, the group released their debut album, which mostly featured melodic death metal. In 2004, their second album, “This Darkened Heart”, came out. The record, produced by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, sounded better quality-wise and spawned three singles. A couple of years later, the metal band released “The Fall of Ideals”, marking their first entry on the Billboard 200, at number 75. It included the popular lead single “This Calling” and another acclaimed song, “Six”, used in Guitar Hero II.
“Overcome” – Present
After extensive touring, the band recorded their fourth album, “Overcome”, which came out in the fall of 2008. It received mixed reviews, however, it became their best-selling record to date. The album peaked at number 16 on the Billboard 200 and number 5 on the Rock chart. Moreover, the single “Two Weeks” reached top 10 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks. In 2010, All That Remains released their highest charted album, “For We Are Many”, which peaked at number 10 in the US. Close to that success came “A War You Cannot Win”, in 2012, at number 13. Additionally, it generated the iconic hit, with 35 million views on Youtube, “What If I Was Nothing”. In 2015, All That Remains came out with, “The Order of Things”, which, surprisingly, received mixed to negative reviews. However, the group came back in the spotlight with 2017’s “Madness”.
