R5 Biography

R5 is a Los Angeles-based pop rock band, the enclosing members are the four Lynch brothers and Ellington Ratliff.

Early Formation

R5 was formed by siblings Riker Lynch, Rocky Lynch, Ross Lynch and Rydel Lynch. Raised in Littleton, Colorado, they met Ellington Ratliff who became a close family friend. Following Riker’s decision to pursue acting, the whole family moved to Los Angeles. They began to learn how to play guitar and made their official debut on YouTube’s web series, R5 TV.

Career Beginnings

The group released independently the debut EP entitled Ready Set Rock in 2010. Next, they released music videos for Can’t Get Enough of You and Never. After the reveal of the debut single Say You’ll Stay, the band was of to perform in various venues. Following Riker’s recurring role on Fox’s Glee the band’s profile was boosted. R5 was signed to Hollywood Records in 2012.

Success

In 2013, the group was able to release the full debut LP Louder. The single Loud peaked at number 24 on Billboard 200. The same year they were nominated for Best Band at the 2013 Disney Music Awards. Ross’ acting career saw success with his starring role in the notorious Teen Beach Movie. R5 then hit the road in 2014 by touring in Europe, followed by the issue of the Heart Made Up on You EP. In 2015, the band returned with the second album Sometime Last Night. It reached number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart. They embarked on a worldwide tour to support the album which ended in 2016. In April 2017, R5 announced the arrival of a new EP called New Addictions, which is set for release in May 2017.
