Jacquees is an Atlanta-based singer-songwriter who scored collaborations with artists like Chris Brown, Rich Homie Quan, and T.I.

Early Life

Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax was born in Decatur, Georgia on April 15, 1994. At 9 years-old he found his passion was performing after discovering the music of the Jacksons and the Temptations. At 12 years old, Broadnax began writing songs.

Career Beginnings

In 2007 he caught the attention of Orlando Grind, his future manager. He began working for Block Entertainment and by 2009, Jacquees was in the recording studio, collaborating with rapper T.I on the single Krazy. The song gave him exposure, and Jacquees released his first EP I Am Jacquees followed by the 2011 mixtape Round of Applause. In the following years, Jacquees issued 2 more mixtapes, Fan Affiliated in 2012 and Quemix in 2013.

Success

He started enjoying more success with the release of the project 19, debuting at number 15 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and number 3 on iTunes’ R&B and Soul chart. This accomplishment was probably due to guest appearances from artists like Chris Brown, Rich Homie Quan, Lloyd and Trinidad James. In 2014 Jacquees was signed to Cash Money Records, however, he self-released the mixtape Quemix 2 in 2015. Under this new label, he revealed Mood and Lost At Sea in 2016 and Since You Playin in 2017. His full LP is set for release in 2017 and will be featured by Chris Brown.
