Lauren Daigle Biography

Lauren Ashley Daigle is an American contemporary Christian music singer. She rose to fame in 2015 due to her debut album How Can It Be. She won several Dove Awards and received two Grammy nominations.

Early Life & Career

Lauren was born in 1991, in Lafayette, Louisiana. She grew up listening to zydeco, blues and Cajun music. She studied at the Louisiana State University but also developed her passion for music. Therefore, she sang in the choir, while attending Child and Family Studies. She tried out for American Idol two times but didn’t make it to the final cut. Furthermore, she had two mildly-successful collaborations with a local band The Assemblie and with fellow Christian singer Jason Gray. They led to Lauren signing with Centricity Music in 2013. Shortly after, she debuted with Light of the World, featured on the label’s Christmas collection.

“How Can It Be” & Christmas Album

Daigle released her first studio album in 2015, titled How Can It Be. It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard and the iTunes Christian Albums charts. Additionally, it reached top 20 on the Billboard 200. The title single, previously released, received a gold certification. Moreover, Trust in You topped the Country Songs chart and reached number 23 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. Following up on the success, Lauren came out with a Deluxe Edition in 2016. Later that year, the young singer released a Christmas album, which dominated the Christian, Holiday and Billboard 200 charts.
