Royal Blood are on their way of becoming of the most popular rock duos in the last decades.
Royal Blood Biography
Royal Blood encloses the members Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher. Like The Black Keys or The White Stripes, this band is a rock duo, with a drummer and a guitarist. The difference is that Kerr plays the bass guitar.
Early Years
Mike played under the name Royal Blood firstly in Australia. When he came to England, he teamed up with Thatcher. They played small gigs at first. Before an official release, Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders wore a Royal Blood t-shirt at a Glastonbury Festival. Alex Turner’s band and Royal Blood are managed by the same company.
Further Career
The duo’s first single was titled ‘Out of the Black”. They followed its release by supporting Arctic Monkeys for two concerts in 2014. Their self-titled album issued in 2014 and Metacritic rated it 77/100. It spawned five singles, including “Out of the Black”, Little Monster” and “Ten Tonne Skeleton”. Chris Schulz of The New Zealand Herald humorously said: “Someone better warn Jack White that these new kids on the rock block mean business.”
After the Royal Blood album, they held numerous performances, including festival gigs at Glastonbury, Download or Coachella. They toured with Foo Fighters for several shows. Kerr and Thatcher also did a short series of covers on Instagram, playing songs from artists like Robbie Williams and Elton John. Royal Blood was featured on the HBO’s Vinyl with the song “Where Are You Now?”. This track will appear on their next album How Did We Get So Dark? that will issue on 16 June 2017.
