Skip Marley Biography

Skip Marley is a Jamaican reggae singer and songwriter. He is the grandson of Bob Marley. His single Lions appears in Pepsi’s Live for Now commercial, with Kendall Jenner.

Early Life & Career

Skip was born in 1996, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Cedella Marley and David Minto. He grew up in Miami, Florida and learned to play the piano, drums, guitar and bass, all by himself. In 2015, he released his debut single, Cry To Me, and his second single, Life. Furthermore, he signed with Blue Mountain Music and performed with his uncles, Damian and Stephen, on their Catch a Fire tour. In 2016 the young artist starred in a Gap Denim campaign.

Breakthrough

In 2017 Skip Marley moved to Island Record. Consequently, he released his breakthrough single, Lions, which became immensely popular after being included in the Live for Now (Pepsi) commercial. Moreover, he co-wrote and provided vocals for Katy Perry’s hit Chained to the Rhythm. Therefore, he performed, along with Katy Perry, at the 2017 Grammy Awards, Brit Awards, and iHeartRadio Music Awards.
