Eric Bellinger Biography

Eric Bellinger is an American singer-songwriter and record producer who first came to prominence as a songwriter.

Early Life

Eric Bellinger, Jr. was born in Compton, California on  March 28, 1986, and grew up listening to gospel and R&B music. He chose music when offered a football scholarship at the University of Southern California.

Songwriting

Eric started touring and recording with AKNU, an R&B group which led them being signed by Epic Records. He chose to leave and joined the songwriting community called The Writing Camp. Eric first started writing for pop acts like Selena Gomez and the Scene, but eventually immersed into a variety of genres. He began writing for Chris Brown, Brandy, Usher, and Justin Bieber, winning in the process a Grammy and ASCAP Award for his contribution. After working with LA rapper The Game, he was signed to Sony ATV but left and joined BMI instead.

Music

Besides songwriting, Bellinger also released a variety of mixtapes and EPs. In 2013 he issued three mixtapes as Born II Sing Vol. 1, Born II Sing Vol. 2, and Born II Sing Vol. 3. The following year he released his debut double album called The Rebirth which reached spot 23 and 15 on the US R&B and Hip Hop charts. Cuffing Season and Cuffing Season, Part 2, two full studio albums were issued within months of each other in 2015. The first LP peaked at position 6 on the US R&B chart. The mixtape Choose Up Season contained Eric’s hottest song so farValet with Fetty Wap and 2 Chainz. His latest project was revealed in 2017 as Eric B for President: Term 2.
