Early Life
Adam Mitchel Lambert was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on January 29, 1982. At age 9 he began acting and would focus on theater and vocal training for the majority of his teens. After graduating, Adam moved to LA to pursue a career in show-biz.
Career Beginnings
For the majority of his 20s, Lambert would focus on his acting career, appearing in numerous theater productions. At the same time, he was part of various underground rock bands like The Citizen Vein with Steve Sidelnyk, Tommy Victor, and Monte Pittman.
American Idol
He auditioned for American Idol’s 8th run, and after a few spectacular performances, Adam soon became the judge’s and public’s favorite. Although he did not win the prize, he is regarded by many as one of the best American Idol contestants. During this same period, it surfaced the fact that Adam was gay, which he was open about.
Success
Consequently, he received plenty of attention and after being signed to RCA Records, Lamberts began working on his debut album. For Your Entertainment was released in 2009 and sold 200,000 units during its first week. The success was followed by a controversial performance at the American Music Awards and a live EP Acoustic Live!. In 2011, Glam Nation Live a concert album/DVD was issued. The following year he released his second effort as Trespassing filled with big collaborations from Bruno Mars and Pharrell Williams amongst others. It was a number 1 hit, however, it did not fulfill expectations and Lambert left his record label. After a world tour with Queen as the lead vocalist, Adam was invited as a judge on American Idol in 2015. This was the first time former contestant appeared as a guest judge on the show. Lambert was next signed to Warner Bros and released his latest LP named The Original High. The album debuted at number 3 on Billboard 200. In 2016 he supported his album with The Original High Tour with 56 international dates. In 2017 Adam will join Queen again on 25 date tour in the US.
