Home Free Biography

Home Free currently encloses the members Austin Brown, Rob Lundquist, Adam Rupp, Tim Foust, and Adam Chance.

Early Years

Adam Rupp is the only founding member that’s still in the group. Home Free started in 2000 and it was formed by Adam’s brother, Chris Rupp. With people joining and leaving quite often, the group issued numerous albums. Early albums like From the Top (2007) and Christmas Vol 2 (2010) were issued under their independent label Home Free.

Home Free, 2016, in an interview with Entertainment Focus: “Home Free began as a hobby 15 years ago in Mankato, Minnesota. Honestly, at the time, we were just trying to be Rockapella. Luckily, it slowly snowballed into a career, and over time we solidified our lineup and four our original voice as a band. In 2013, we won NBC’s The Sing-Off which catapulted us into international acclaim.

Further Changes and Commercial Success

In 2014, the band consisted of Chris Rupp, Adam Rupp, Matthew “Austin” Brown, Lundquist, and Foust. They released the album Crazy Life with the label Columbia Records. Crazy Life sold over 70,000 copies in the US. One of their famous renditions is the cover of the classic Christmas carol “Angels We Have Heard on High”. The single reached number 30 on the US Country Singles chart.

With Adam Chance replacing Chris Rupp, the group signed with Columbia Records. Full of (Even More) Cheer (2016) peaked at number two on the US Country Albums chart.
