San Diego - Blink-182

Album: California

genre: Pop-Punk Punk-Rock

Sometimes I wonder where our lives go
And question who we used to be
Sometimes I feel like I’m the oxygen between
The cigarette and gasoline

I can’t sleep cause what if I dream

Of going back to San Diego
We bought a one way ticket
So we can go see the Cure
And listen to our favorite songs in the parking lot
And think of every person I ever lost in San Diego
(To San Diego)
Can’t go back to San Diego
(Can’t go back to San Diego)

Abandoned houses with the lights on
Late at night I call your name
Abandoned love songs smashed across the hardwood floors
I read the sadness on your face

I can’t sleep cause what if I dream

Of going back to San Diego
We bought a one way ticket
So we can go see the Cure
And listen to our favorite songs in the parking lot
And think of every person I ever lost in San Diego
(To San Diego)
Can’t go back to San Diego
(Can’t go back to San Diego)

I never needed to hear
All of the pain and the fear
Your secrets filled up my ears
Like the ocean blue
I never wanted to know
How deep these cuts on you go
And like a river they flow
To the ocean blue

Going back to San Diego
We bought a one way ticket
So we can go see the Cure
And listen to our favorite songs in the parking lot
And think of every person I ever lost in San Diego (San Diego)
(To San Diego)
Can’t go back to San Diego (San Diego)
(Can’t go back to San Diego)

California Danzig album lyrics
The album's producer, John Feldmann, told Fuse: ""The history of the song [is about] growing up in San Diego, having so many of their work partners being from San Diego and having a member (Tom DeLonge) who lives in San Diego who is no longer in the band."
Song details
  • Recording: Foxy Studios, Woodland Hills, CA
  • Mixing: Cervini, Avron, Lancaster, Grosse
  • Mix Engineering: Zakk Cervini, Matt Pauling
  • Composition: Stump, Feldmann, Skiba, Barker, Hoppus
  • Release Date: July 1, 2016
Also, John Feldmann told Fuse: "Every band has these issues. To write a song, now, in their minds, to go back to San Diego, playing shows and tipping their hat to the city that allowed them to be a band...to me, Blink put San Diego on the map. If you think of its geographic location, they're the band that made San Diego relevant as a city. I say that with the utmost respect to San Diego because I was born in San Diego, I grew up in San Diego but nobody gave a f--k about San Diego. It was just like a place and suddenly Blink happened and it was like Seattle."
