Sorority Noise Biography

Sorority Noise is an American indie rock band from Connecticut, formed in 2013.

Early Career

Shortly after their formation, the group released their first cassette, Young Luck, through an independent record label. Furthermore, Sorority Noise released an EP, in collaboration with a fellow rock band, Somos. Their debut album, Forgettable, came in 2014 but went unnoticed. In 2015, the band released their second album Joy, Departed, which had the same fate. In 2016, Sorority Noise released another EP, It Kindly Stopped For Me, dedicated to a lost friend. The vocalist also stated that he “struggled with finding ways to also help others around him.” Furthermore, the group released a split single with the emo band The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die.

You’re Not As _____ As You Think

Sorority Noise finally gained mainstream success in 2017, with the release of their latest album. You’re Not As _____ As You Think marked their first appearance on the Billboard 200 chart. Till now, it spawned one single, called No Halo. The album is a huge improvement lyric-wise and focuses the issues of depression and death. The members described it as an “emotional bulldozer”. The album received positive reviews. Pitchfork said: “Sorority Noise know brutal honesty can be uncomfortable, but they employ it so well on their latest album, a rafter-reaching emo record about the raw stages of grief and loneliness”.
