iLoveMakonnen Biography

iLoveMakonnen is an American rapper and singer that received attention after Drake’s remix of his song Tuesday.

Early Life 

Makonnen Sheran was born on April 12, 1989, in LA, California. After 13 years, he moved to Atlanta. His grandmother’s experience in opera singing influenced Makonnen’s career.

Career Beginnings

He began making songs and uploading them on his MySpace account. In addition, he also had a blog where he would post interviews and write about music. During a two-year house arrest, he focused on his craft and relations. Between 2011 and 2013 he released a few albums and EPs, as well as the Drink More Water series. Makonnen slowly built a following with his surreal style of rap and singing.

Success

After Miley Cyrus posted an image with his I Love Makonnen EP to Instagram, his social media popularity grew. In 2015, Drake made a remix of Makonnen’s then called track Club Goin’ Up on a Tuesday. The track was re-released as Tuesday and peaked at number 12 on Hot 100. I Love Makonnen 2, the 2nd EP was released under OVO Sound label, followed by the Drink More Water 6 mixtape in 2016.
