Ludacris Biography

Christopher Brian “Chris” Bridges, professionally known as Ludacris, is an American hip-hop artist and actor. He is one of the most influential rappers from the early 2000s. He won several awards and founded his own label Disturbing tha Peace.

Early Career & Breakthrough 

Ludacris began rapping at the young age of nine. For a while, he worked as a DJ. Additionally, he was part of a local rap group. In 1998, the artist already released an independent album, Incognegro, with the help of Timbaland. However, his commercial debut was 2 years later, Back for the First. The album reached number 4 on the )Billboard 200 and consecrated Ludacris’ “fast, comedic flow“.  Furthermore, in 2001, the rapper released World of Mouf, which spawned a Grammy-nominated single, Rollout (My Business). 

Continuous Success

In 2003, he composed the iconic Act a Fool for the 2 Fast 2 Furious movie. Moreover, his next single Stand Up was featured in the movie You Got Served and topped the Billboard Hot 100. One year later, he won his first Grammy for the collaboration with Usher and Lil Jon, titled Yeah!. 

Consequently, Ludacris’ next album, The Red Light District, was a huge success, debuting at number one on Billboard. Two years later, the already famous rapper’s next album, Release Therapy, came out to critical acclaim. It generated three popular singles, with Runaway Love as the Best Collaboration of 2007 (BET Awards). In 2010, the rapper released Battle of the Sexes. The album featured two of Ludacris’ most popular and broadcasted songs: How Low and My Chick Bad, featuring Nicky Minaj. Ludacris released his latest album in 2015. Ludaversal became the rapper’s consecutive eighth top-five album.
