Elvis Presley Biography
Born Elvis Aaron Presley on 8 January 1935 ( died on 16 August 1977), he grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi and he moved to Memphis, Tennessee at 13 years old.
Beginnings
Presley first received a guitar at 11 years old. After winning a talent show in high school, he was determined to follow his dream. Following graduation, he switched jobs till he issued his debut single “That’s All Right” in 1954.
His first number one hit was titled “Heartbreak Hotel”. It was followed by his first number one album, Elvis Presley. He signed a movie contract with Paramount Pictures in 1956.
Serving Time and Comeback
In 1958 Elvis was conscripted into the US Army. During his military time, he met Priscilla Beaulieu, his future wife. The artist returned home in 1960 and started work for his next album. Elvis Is Back! (1960) contained tunes like “Fever” and “I Will Be Home Again”. This album was critically acclaimed. The Rolling Stone Album Guide rated it 5/5 stars and MusicHound gave it 4/5 stars.
While he continued to play in medium-budget musical comedies, Presley’s career was downgrading. He continued to reach chart tops with movie soundtracks, but the years were passing and the quality was getting worse.
Revival
In 1968, Elvis performed at the Elvis ’68 Comeback Special. The reviews he got were tremendous and everybody was glad to see Elvis going to back to his roots.
After his revival, Presley continued performing and touring. His next studio albums were From Elvis in Memphis (1969), Promised Land (1975), From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee (1976). In 1977 the star met with his end, before flying out of Memphis.
