Nico & Vinz Biography

Nico & Vinz are a Norwegian duo that found international success with the release of their single Am I Wrong.

Early Formation

Nico Sereba and Vincent Dery were formed in 2010. Their music consisted of mixtures of different genres from pop to reggae to soul.

Career Beginnings

Originally named Envy they released their first mixtape Dreamworks: Why Not Me. In 2011 they released their first single One Song, reaching number 19 on the Norwegian charts. Their debut album was released the following year as The Magic Soup and the Bittersweet Faces. The LP found success in Norway.

Breakthrough

As the duo’s fame rose, they decided to change their name to Nico & Vinz in 2013. The same year they released their first major hit Am I Wrong. The song reached number 2 in Norway and entered number 5 in other territories. It became a multi-platinum track. Soon followed the angsty ballad In Your Arms and the 2014 album Black Star Elephant. 2015 proved to be a busy year for Nico & Vinz as they played at numerous festivals and events. They were chosen as the Best New Artist at the Soul Train Awards, the same year. In late 2015 they revealed the EP Cornerstone. That’s How You Know, the lead single featured by Bebe Rexha, reached number 2 in Norway and Australia.
