Twista Biography

Born Carl Terrell Mitchell on 27 November 1973, Twista began rapping when he was only 12.

Early Years

His first album Runnin’ Off at da Mouth (1992) was released under the name Tung Twista. His next album Resurrection (1994) was issued locally.

Freshly signed to Atlantic Records, Twista delivered Adrenaline Rush in 1997. For Kamikaze (2004), the rapper worked with artists like Kanye West and Ludacris. The album was a great success and earned him more respect in the rap scene.

Collaborations and Further Work

Collaborating with Trey Songz, Pitbull and Mariah Carey, Twista issued the album The Day After in 2005. The singles “Give it Up” featuring Pharrell and “Creep Fast” featuring T-Pain were enclosed in the next album, Adrenaline Rush 2007.

His next albums Category F5 (2009), The Perfect Storm (2010) and Dark Horse (2014) consolidated his position in the rap scene.

My thing is I wanna be able to make the type of music I make, but do more as far as being able to talk to kids. Have a few more seminars than you usually have for high schools during your promotion. Say a few things different, and make people understand your music, understand that it’s cultural“, he declared in an interview with Dj Booth.
