Christina Perri is an American singer-songwriter who had success thanks to her singles “Jar of Hearts” and “A Thousand Years”.
Early Life
Christina Judith Perri was born August 19, 1986, in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. She taught herself how to play guitar at 16 and dropped out of college to pursue a singing career.
“Jar of Hearts” and Breakthrough
Christina then married and was focusing entirely on writing music. She divorced, moved back home and took on a variety of jobs in order to afford recording music. Following the exposure of the song “Jar of Hearts” on the dancing competition “So You Think You Can Dance”, Perri’s career took a massive shift to the best. The single eventually peaked at number 17 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and it sold 100,000 copies in one month. As a result, she was signed to Atlantic Records in 2010 followed by an EP release, entitled “The Ocean Way Sessions”. “Lovestrong”, Christina’s first album was released 2011 debuting at number 4 on the Billboard chart. A bigger hit followed with “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” soundtrack “A Thousand Years” which has been certified platinum 4 times in the US. Christina’s released her second album “Head or Heart” in 2014 and is currently working on her third.
